General characteristcs:

The hydroelectric project consists of two stages (the first with 15 MW and the second with 22.5 MW). Located in the Morona Santiago province, northeast of the town of Macas.

Funding:

  • Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), affiliated with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
  • World Bank.

Carbon offsets:

In December 2004, the project signed an Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA) with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) / Netherlands Clean Development Mechanism Facility (NCDMF) with a commitment of 175,388 tons of CO2.
