Paquitzapango is one of the five hydroelectric projects prioritized in the energy integration agreements between Brazil and Peru. The others are: Inambari (2000 MW), Tambo 40 (1287 MW), Mainique (607 MW) and Tambo 60 (579 MW).
Implementation expected to take place between the years 2011 and 2016.

10 communities in the Asháninka Comunal Reserve (Potsoteni, Saniveni, Centor Tsomaveni, Shimpenshariato, Meteni, Quiteña, Cutivireni, Camantavishi, Quempiri and Quimaropitari).
